Golf in Susanville

Susanville is the county seat of Lassen County in northeastern California, at roughly 4,200 feet elevation along the Susan River. The city occupies a high valley at the point where the Sierra Nevada transitions into the Great Basin terrain of the northeastern plateau. Lassen County borders Nevada to the east and Oregon to the north, giving it a character that blends the Sierra eastern terrain with open Great Basin terrain. The local economy includes government employment, timber, ranching, and correctional facilities that contribute substantially to the job base. Susanville serves as the commercial hub for a wide and sparsely populated area, providing services for ranchers, rural residents, and travelers on US Highway 395. The Susan River runs through the city before joining Honey Lake to the west, a shallow playa lake in the broad valley south of town.
