Golf in Irvine

Irvine is a planned city in Orange County in the central county area, developed by the Irvine Company on former agricultural and ranch land in the second half of the twentieth century. The city occupies a broad flat position in the central Orange County basin, extending from the Saddleback Valley to the business complex near the coast. Orange County's technology and business employment is concentrated in part in Irvine, with the Irvine Spectrum and UCI Research Park serving as major employment centers. The University of California, Irvine, is within the city and is a significant educational and research institution. The city has been developed with a series of planned villages, each with residential, commercial, and park components. John Wayne Airport is within the city.
