Golf in Wasco

Wasco is a small city in Kern County in the San Joaquin Valley, northwest of Bakersfield in the county's agricultural zone. The city occupies flat valley terrain where intensive agriculture produces cotton, carrots, and other crops that benefit from the valley's irrigation infrastructure and long growing season. Kern County's northwestern San Joaquin Valley is one of the most intensively farmed areas in California, and Wasco is surrounded by agricultural fields. The city serves as a commercial center for surrounding farms and smaller agricultural communities. State Route 46 provides the main east-west highway connection through Wasco, linking the city to Buttonwillow and Interstate 5 to the west and to State Route 99 to the east. Wasco has associations with rose cultivation, a specialty crop grown in the area for commercial distribution.
