Golf in Porterville

Porterville is a city in Tulare County at the base of the Sierra Nevada foothills, east of Visalia. The city sits at roughly 420 feet elevation where the San Joaquin Valley floor meets the first slopes of the foothills, along the Tule River drainage. Tulare County's eastern communities have a foothill agricultural character, with citrus, olives, and stone fruit grown in the transitional terrain between valley and mountain. The city serves as the main commercial center for the eastern portion of Tulare County, providing retail, healthcare, and government services for surrounding foothill and mountain communities. State Route 190 runs from Porterville up into the Sierra Nevada toward the Tule River drainage and Sequoia National Forest. Porterville College is a community college in the city and an important educational and employment institution for the area. The city has grown modestly in recent decades.
