Golf in Kealakekua

Kealakekua is a community in the South Kona district on the Big Island's western coast, positioned above Kealakekua Bay—the sheltered anchorage where Captain James Cook was killed in February 1779 and where the Captain Cook Monument on the opposite shore marks one of the most historically significant sites in Pacific history. The surrounding South Kona landscape—coffee farms, macadamia nut orchards, and the rural communities of the coffee country—gives the area a productive agricultural character that distinguishes it from the resort-dominant communities of the Kohala Coast to the north. The Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course serves the golf market in a part of the Big Island where the agricultural heritage and the historical associations of Kealakekua Bay define the community's identity.
