Golf in Puako

Puako is a small community on the South Kohala coast of the Big Island, a neighborhood of beach houses and the landing point for some of the Big Island's best scuba diving and snorkeling at the Puako reef system. Two of the Big Island's most celebrated resort golf courses are located in the broader Puako area: Hapuna Golf Course, the Arnold Palmer design at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel, and Mauna Lani Golf, the historic resort course complex that incorporates ancient Hawaiian archaeological features—petroglyph fields and fishponds—into its routing. The South Kohala coastal setting gives both facilities a landscape context defined by the meeting of black lava and the Pacific blue.
