Golf in Ely

Ely is Nevada's highest county seat at roughly 6,400 feet, a White Pine County city in the center of the state's Basin and Range terrain where the mining of copper defined the economy through much of the twentieth century. The historic Nevada Northern Railway, preserved and still operated as a tourist attraction, connects the city to its industrial past. The surrounding Great Basin landscape — alternating mountain ranges and dry valleys — stretches toward Utah to the east with few interruptions. White Pine Golf Course at par 72 serves the city's recreational needs on a full 18-hole layout, taking advantage of the high elevation's cooler summers to extend a golf season that shorter-season northern Nevada destinations also enjoy.
