Golf in Little Compton

Little Compton is one of the most private and deliberately preserved communities in Rhode Island, occupying the southeastern tip of the Sakonnet Peninsula between Narragansett Bay and the Massachusetts border. The town's stringent land-use policies and strong community culture have limited development, maintaining a landscape of stone-wall-bordered farms and quiet country roads that looks much as it did centuries ago. The Sakonnet River to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the south give the town an island quality despite its mainland connection, and the rocky beaches along Sakonnet Point are among the least-crowded in southern New England. The town's Common, encircled by stone walls and historic graves, serves as the geographic and spiritual heart of a community that has chosen to remain a place apart.
