Golf in Canyon

Canyon is the county seat of Randall County in the Texas Panhandle south of Amarillo, home to West Texas A&M University and the gateway to Palo Duro Canyon State Park. The canyon—the largest state park in Texas, carved by the Prairie Dog Town Fork of the Red River—is one of the most dramatic natural features in the state, with 800-foot walls of red and orange rock. The TEXAS outdoor musical drama is performed in the canyon amphitheater each summer. West Texas A&M is a regional university serving the Panhandle population and has academic programs in agriculture, fine arts, and professional fields. Canyon is on the Llano Estacado at roughly 3,600 feet elevation, at the escarpment edge that drops into the canyon. Two courses serve the Canyon community at the edge of the canyon country.
