Golf in El Campo

El Campo is the largest city in Wharton County in the Gulf Coast prairie of south-central Texas, in the rice-farming and oil-field country between Houston and the Rio Grande Valley. The community has a strong connection to the rice farming industry that has been a major agricultural product of the Wharton County coastal prairie, where the flat land and irrigation canals from the Colorado River support significant rice cultivation. El Campo also has petrochemical industry and cattle ranching as economic pillars. The flat coastal plain terrain of Wharton County is typical of the middle Texas coast, with bayou drainage and prairie grasses. The community is approximately 60 miles southwest of Houston along the US 59 and SH 71 corridors. One course serves the El Campo area.
