Golf in Huntsville

Huntsville is the county seat of Walker County north of Houston, home to Sam Houston State University and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice headquarters. The Huntsville Unit is the main site for the state's execution chamber, giving the community a connection to the criminal justice system. Sam Houston's home, grave, and museum are preserved here as the Sam Houston Memorial Museum, honoring the hero of the Battle of San Jacinto and first president of the Republic of Texas. Walker County is at the northern edge of the Sam Houston National Forest, and the terrain transitions from the flat Houston coastal plain to the forested upland terrain of the Piney Woods. One course serves the Huntsville community.
