Golf in Laughlin AFB

Laughlin Air Force Base is in Val Verde County near Del Rio in southwest Texas, a major pilot training installation that provides year-round flight training in the open airspace of the Chihuahuan Desert. Laughlin is one of the primary undergraduate pilot training bases in the Air Force, training pilots in the T-6 Texan II and T-38 Talon aircraft. The remote desert location of southwest Texas provides clear skies and minimal air traffic that allows the intensive training schedule. Val Verde County is one of the more remote counties in Texas, at the edge of the semi-arid brush country near the Big Bend region. Del Rio, the county seat, is approximately 7 miles from the base and provides services for the military community. Amistad National Recreation Area nearby offers water recreation on the international reservoir. One course serves the Laughlin Air Force community in the semi-arid Chihuahuan Desert terrain.
