Golf in Levelland

Levelland is the county seat of Hockley County in the Texas South Plains west of Lubbock, a cotton farming community on the flat Llano Estacado near the New Mexico border. South Plains College, a two-year institution with a strong reputation for academic and vocational programs, provides an educational anchor for this small South Plains community. Hockley County is an agricultural county on the flat High Plains at roughly 3,500 feet elevation, where irrigation from the Ogallala Aquifer supports significant cotton and grain production. The community is approximately 30 miles west of Lubbock along US 385, making it accessible to the regional center. The flat, windy terrain of the South Plains extends in all directions, with the characteristic treeless Llano Estacado landscape.
