Golf in Sundown

Sundown is a small community in Hockley County on the Llano Estacado near the New Mexico border west of Lubbock, in the cotton-farming country of the Texas South Plains. The community is in the flat, semi-arid High Plains terrain at roughly 3,600 feet elevation, where the Ogallala Aquifer irrigation supports cotton and grain production. Hockley County is one of the agricultural counties of the South Plains adjacent to the New Mexico state line. Sundown is on the US 62-180 corridor west of Levelland, in the remote western South Plains near the state border. The flat terrain extends in all directions with irrigated fields and native grassland. One course serves this small South Plains community in the flat, irrigated terrain of Hockley County.
