Golf in Lufkin

Lufkin is the county seat of Angelina County in the East Texas Piney Woods and the commercial hub for the deep East Texas timber and paper industry. The community is in the heart of the national forests that define the East Texas landscape, with the Davy Crockett and Angelina National Forests surrounding the region and providing timber for the lumber and paper mills that anchor the local economy. The city has a Texas Forestry Museum that documents the long record of the timber industry in East Texas. Lufkin has a medical center that serves a regional population across several Piney Woods counties. The Neches River and its tributaries drain the Angelina County terrain in the forested pine and hardwood uplands. The community is approximately 115 miles north of Houston along US 59. Two courses serve the Lufkin community in the forested terrain of the Angelina County Piney Woods.
