Golf in Troup

Troup is a small city in southeastern Smith County in the East Texas Piney Woods south of Tyler, in the pine and hardwood forest country of the deep East Texas region. The community is in Smith County's more rural southeastern portion, away from the Tyler urban center, in the tall pines and hardwood woodland typical of the deeper Piney Woods. Cherokee County lies immediately to the south of Smith County, and the Piney Woods terrain of this area has the dense forest cover that characterizes the East Texas landscape. The community is accessible from Tyler via US 69 and SH 135. Agricultural land, timber operations, and some oil production characterize the Smith County rural economy. One course serves the Troup community in the pine and hardwood terrain of southeastern Smith County.
