Meridian is the county seat of Bosque County in the Cross Timbers country of central Texas, a small community on the Bosque River in the cedar and live oak terrain between the Blackland Prairie and the Edwards Plateau. Bosque County has a mix of Norwegian and other European immigrant settlement patterns that left cultural imprints on the community. Clifton, Cranfills Gap, and Valley Mills are nearby communities in the county. Lake Whitney lies at the eastern edge of the county, providing recreation along the Brazos River corridor. Bosque County's terrain transitions from the cedar-oak Cross Timbers on the uplands to the creek and river bottomlands, creating a varied landscape. The community is approximately 60 miles southwest of Waco along the US 6 corridor. One course serves the Meridian community in the cedar and live oak terrain of Bosque County.
