Golf in San Saba

San Saba is the county seat of San Saba County in the Hill Country west of Austin, known as the Pecan Capital of the World for the native pecan trees that grow prolifically along the San Saba River in the valley terrain. The community is in the limestone plateau country where the San Saba River has created a fertile valley in the otherwise dry Edwards Plateau. San Saba County has a small population centered on the county seat and depends on the pecan harvest, cattle ranching, and some tourism. The Colorado River forms the northern boundary of San Saba County, and the Bend area at the Colorado-San Saba Rivers confluence is a recreation destination. The limestone and cedar terrain of San Saba County is at roughly 1,400 feet elevation in the central Hill Country. One course serves this small Hill Country community in the San Saba River valley.
