Golf in Brownwood

Brownwood is the county seat of Brown County in central Texas, a mid-size city on Lake Brownwood at the edge of the Edwards Plateau. The community has long been a crossroads for the ranch country of central Texas and is home to Howard Payne University, a Baptist-affiliated institution. Lake Brownwood State Park provides recreation on the reservoir at the edge of town. Brown County is in the transition zone between the Cross Timbers and the Edwards Plateau, with limestone outcrops, cedar, live oak, and mesquite. The community serves a regional population that includes the small cities of San Saba, Coleman, Comanche, and Eastland counties. One course serves the Brownwood area in the Cross Timbers and limestone plateau transition terrain.
