Golf in Tooele

Tooele is the seat of Tooele County, a city of roughly 35,000 on the floor of Tooele Valley west of the Oquirrh Mountains. The city's economy has long been connected to military logistics — Tooele Army Depot and the adjacent Deseret Chemical Depot have been major employers — though the chemical weapons storage and disposal program at Deseret has concluded. Tooele is an hour from Salt Lake City but separated by a mountain range, which gives the city an independent identity that larger communities on the Wasatch Front proper don't always afford. Oquirrh Hills Golf Course is named for the mountains that separate Tooele from the Salt Lake Valley.
