Golf in New River

New River is an unincorporated community in north Maricopa County along the New River watershed north of the main Phoenix Valley, in the Sonoran Desert terrain between the Valley and the Mogollon Rim country. The community is in the outer northern Phoenix suburban fringe, in the desert terrain that begins to rise toward the higher country north of the Valley. New River's remote desert setting north of Phoenix has attracted large-lot residential development and horse properties, with the community having a rural desert character compared to the dense suburban development of the inner Valley. The terrain is Sonoran Desert with saguaro cactus, palo verde, and the typical vegetation of the Arizona uplands. One course serves the New River community in the desert terrain of northern Maricopa County.
