Alamo is an unincorporated community in Contra Costa County in the San Ramon Valley, between Danville to the south and Walnut Creek to the north. The community occupies the valley floor at roughly 350 feet elevation, in the sheltered interior valley east of the Oakland Hills. Contra Costa County's San Ramon Valley communities have a warm, dry climate compared to the bay-facing communities on the county's western edge. The community is primarily residential with no commercial center, with residents relying on Danville and Walnut Creek for services. The Iron Horse Regional Trail runs through the valley, providing a non-motorized recreation corridor. Interstate 680 provides highway access north toward Walnut Creek and south toward San Ramon and the Tri-Valley junction.
