Walnut Creek is a city in Contra Costa County in the Diablo Valley, at the intersection of Interstate 680 and State Route 24. The city is the main commercial hub for central Contra Costa County, with Broadway Plaza and surrounding retail corridors providing shopping for a wide area. Contra Costa County's interior valley communities look to Walnut Creek as the primary commercial center. The city has a pedestrian-oriented downtown and a strong restaurant and retail scene.
