Golf in Atascadero

Atascadero is a city in San Luis Obispo County on the Central Coast, north of San Luis Obispo and south of Paso Robles in the Salinas River valley. The city occupies a broad valley floor at roughly 850 feet elevation, in a zone with a warm Mediterranean climate moderated by ocean influence through the Coast Range. San Luis Obispo County's inland communities, including Atascadero, are somewhat warmer and drier than the immediate coast. The city has a planned layout dating to its early twentieth century founding, with a central civic area that remains the commercial and government core. US Highway 101 runs through Atascadero, providing the main north-south connection through the county. The local economy includes agriculture in the surrounding area, retail, and services for a growing residential population.
