Fairbanks Ranch is a gated community in San Diego County north of San Diego in the coastal mountains of the north county, between Solana Beach on the coast and Rancho Santa Fe inland. The community occupies the San Dieguito River valley area, where the agricultural and open space character of the broader Rancho Santa Fe area transitions to planned residential development. San Diego County's affluent north county communities include Fairbanks Ranch as one of the more exclusive, with large-lot development in a private gated setting. The community has a private club and golf facilities within the gates. Rancho Santa Fe provides nearby commercial services. Del Mar and the coast are accessible to the west via Del Dios Highway.
