Golf in Twain Harte

Twain Harte is a community in Tuolumne County in the Sierra Nevada foothills, at roughly 3,600 feet elevation east of Sonora along State Route 108. The community sits in a forested foothill zone at an elevation that brings measurable snowfall in winter and cooler summers compared to the Central Valley below. Tuolumne County's western foothill communities include a range of foothill settlements at varying elevations, and Twain Harte occupies a position in the middle of the county's elevation gradient. The community functions primarily as a residential area with a small downtown and local services catering to full-time residents and weekenders from the Bay Area and Sacramento. State Route 108 continues east through the county, climbing toward Sonora Pass and connection with US Highway 395 on the east side of the Sierra. The surrounding mixed conifer forest and creek drainages define the character of this mountain foothill community.
