Golf in Copperopolis

Copperopolis is a small community in Calaveras County in the Sierra Nevada foothills west of the main mountain chain. The community sits at a relatively low elevation in the western foothills, in terrain that transitions between the flat Central Valley to the west and the more elevated portions of Calaveras County to the east. Calaveras County's western edge communities occupy a zone of oak woodland and foothill grassland at the edge of the Sierra Nevada foothill chain. The local economy has shifted from its earlier mining and agricultural focus to include second-home development and recreation tied to nearby Tulloch Lake and the foothill setting. State Route 4 provides the main east-west corridor through the county, and Copperopolis is accessible from that highway west of Angels Camp. Town Square, a commercial and residential development, has added a retail dimension to the western part of Copperopolis in recent years.
