Golf in Weed

Weed is a small city in Siskiyou County in northern California, on the flanks of Mount Shasta along Interstate 5. The city sits at roughly 3,400 feet elevation and serves as a stopping point for travelers on the interstate through the Shasta-Cascade region. Siskiyou County communities along the I-5 corridor include Weed, Mount Shasta, and Yreka to the north, all positioned in the broad valley between the Klamath Mountains to the west and the Cascades to the east. The local economy centered on lumber and wood products for many years, though that industry has significantly contracted. Weed provides modest commercial services for local residents and interstate travelers. Mount Shasta rises immediately to the east of the city and dominates the surrounding terrain. College of the Siskiyous has a campus in Weed and is a significant local employer and educational resource for the northern Siskiyou County area.
