Mechanic Falls is an Androscoggin County mill town on the Little Androscoggin River gorge, where the river drops through dramatic ledges before joining the main Androscoggin. The town is close to Poland Spring, the historic mineral-spring property whose bottled water became one of the most recognized brands in the eastern United States in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
