Golf in Elephant Butte

Elephant Butte is a small Sierra County community at the eastern shore of Elephant Butte Lake, New Mexico's largest reservoir. The dam completed in 1916 on the Rio Grande was once the largest in the world. The lake draws significant summer recreation traffic — fishing, boating, water skiing — from Las Cruces, Albuquerque, and beyond. Sierra del Rio Golf Course provides recreational golf with lake views in a warm Chihuahuan Desert setting. The community is closely linked to Truth or Consequences to the south, with residents and visitors moving fluidly between the two towns for dining, hot springs, and outdoor recreation.
