Golf in Ferris

Ferris is a small city in northern Ellis County along the I-45 corridor south of Dallas, in the Blackland Prairie that transitions to the southern Metroplex. The community has connections to the brick manufacturing industry that operated in the area, using the local black clay soils of the Blackland Prairie which were ideal for brick production. Ferris is on the I-45 corridor between Dallas and Corsicana and serves as a small commercial stop in the southern Metroplex fringe. The Blackland Prairie terrain of Ellis County has heavy clay soils and flat topography. Ellis County as a whole is growing as the southern Dallas suburban area has expanded. One course serves the Ferris area in the Blackland Prairie terrain of northern Ellis County.
