Golf in Hondo

Hondo is the county seat of Medina County in the Hill Country southwest of San Antonio, a small agricultural community on the Medina River. The area is in the transition zone between the Hill Country and the South Texas brush country, with mesquite and live oak in the gently varied terrain of Medina County. The Medina River provides water in this semi-arid landscape, and Hondo Air Base (now decommissioned) served as a navigation training school in World War II. Hondo serves as the commercial center for Medina County's agricultural and ranching economy. The community is approximately 40 miles southwest of San Antonio along US 90. One course serves the Hondo community in the transition terrain of Medina County.
