Golf in Castroville
1 golf course in Castroville, Texas.
Castroville is a small city in Medina County southwest of San Antonio, known as the Little Alsace of Texas for the Alsatian heritage of the settlers brought by Henri Castro in the 1840s. The community has preserved Alsatian-era structures in its area, and the Medina River provides a natural setting in the limestone terrain. Medina County is in the transition zone between the Texas Hill Country and the South Texas brush country, with the Medina River cutting through the cedars and live oaks of the plateau edge. The St. Louis Catholic Church and other Alsatian-era buildings in Castroville are notable for their European character. The community is approximately 25 miles west of San Antonio along US 90. One course serves the Castroville area in the Hill Country transition terrain.
