Golf in Zapata

Zapata is the county seat of Zapata County in far south Texas on Falcon Reservoir, the international reservoir on the Rio Grande created by the Falcon Dam shared between the United States and Mexico. The reservoir is well known among anglers as a striped bass fishing destination and draws anglers from across the country to the remote brush country setting. Zapata County is in the mesquite and cactus brush country of the Rio Grande border region, a sparsely populated county with a predominantly Hispanic population and an economy based on the county seat services, fishing tourism, and some oil and gas. The flat to gently varied terrain of the south Texas brush country at the Rio Grande defines the landscape. One course serves the Zapata community in the brush country terrain of this remote border county.
