Laredo is the county seat of Webb County on the Rio Grande and one of the busiest inland ports of entry on the US-Mexico border, with commercial traffic between the United States and Mexico flowing through the several international bridges. The city has a predominantly Hispanic population and strong binational cultural and commercial ties to Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, directly across the Rio Grande. Webb County's economy is heavily tied to international trade and logistics, with the trucking and customs industries as major employment sectors. The semi-arid brush country terrain of far south Texas surrounds the city, with mesquite, cactus, and the Rio Grande providing the natural landscape. Laredo is approximately 150 miles southwest of San Antonio along I-35. The subtropical climate has very hot summers and mild winters, and the city has a significant Winter Texan and tourism visitor population. Three courses serve the Laredo community in the semi-arid brush country terrain of far south Texas.
