Golf in Arcata

Arcata is a city in Humboldt County on the North Coast of California, adjacent to Eureka and at the northern end of Humboldt Bay. The city is home to California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt (formerly Humboldt State University), which is a major employer and gives the city a college-town character. Arcata's economy is tied to the university, local government, retail, and the arts community that has grown around the campus. Humboldt County occupies the northwestern coast of California, where the Klamath Mountains meet the Pacific and redwood forests define much of the landscape. Arcata has a compact commercial area surrounding the Arcata Plaza and a distinct, independent-minded community character. The city maintains the Arcata Community Forest, a municipally-owned timber holding in the hills east of the city. Highway 101 passes through the area, connecting Arcata to Eureka to the south and to the Redwood Country to the north.
