Golf in Fortuna

Fortuna is a city in Humboldt County in the Eel River Valley, southeast of Eureka. The city occupies a relatively wide section of the valley where the terrain flattens before the river turns west toward Humboldt Bay. Humboldt County's southern communities, including Fortuna, are positioned in the river valleys that cut through the Coast Range. The local economy includes timber, retail services, healthcare, and government employment typical of rural North Coast counties. Fortuna has a modest downtown and serves as a commercial center for the southern Humboldt County communities along the Eel River corridor. US Highway 101 passes through the city and is the main artery for the region. The surrounding terrain is a mix of dairy pasture in the valley bottom and forested hillsides on the flanks of the inner Coast Range, giving the area a pastoral agricultural character alongside the river.
