Golf in Butte Creek Canyon

Butte Creek Canyon is a community in Butte County in the Sierra Nevada foothills east of Chico, in the steep canyon carved by Butte Creek through the western Sierra foothills. The community occupies a canyon setting with mixed conifer and oak forest on the canyon walls, at elevations ranging from roughly 700 to 2,000 feet. Butte County extends from the Sacramento Valley floor to the Sierra Nevada crest at the Plumas County line, and Butte Creek Canyon occupies a mid-elevation foothill position in the eastern part of the county. The canyon road is the primary access route, connecting the community to Chico to the west. The community is primarily residential with a rural character, drawing people who prefer a forested foothill setting within driving distance of Chico's services and employment. Butte Creek itself is a significant salmonid stream and subject to water quality and habitat restoration efforts.
