Golf in South Oroville

South Oroville is a community in Butte County adjacent to Oroville, the county seat, in the northern Sacramento Valley. The community occupies flat valley terrain south of the Oroville city limits, near the point where the Feather River emerges from the Sierra Nevada foothills into the Sacramento Valley floor. Oroville Dam, the tallest dam in the United States, impounds Lake Oroville to the east of the city. South Oroville is primarily residential and commercial, functioning as part of the greater Oroville urban area. The Feather River runs nearby, and its connection to the Sacramento Valley tributaries gives this portion of Butte County a significant water management role. State Route 70 and State Route 162 provide the main highway connections through Oroville and surrounding communities. South Oroville has a mix of residential neighborhoods and commercial uses along the main corridor toward the city center.
