Golf in Escalon

Escalon is a small city in San Joaquin County in the San Joaquin Valley, southeast of Stockton and northwest of Modesto. The city sits on the flat valley floor in an agricultural zone where fruit orchards, walnuts, and other crops are grown. San Joaquin County's eastern communities have a mix of agricultural and suburban character as the county extends southward from the Stockton urban core toward the Stanislaus County line. Escalon has a modest downtown and serves as a commercial center for the surrounding agricultural area. State Route 120 runs through the area, connecting Escalon to Stockton to the northwest and to Oakdale and the Sierra Nevada foothills to the southeast. The city has a small permanent population and functions partly as a bedroom community for workers commuting to Stockton and the broader Central Valley.
