Golf in Lake of the Pines

Lake of the Pines is a gated community in Nevada County in the Sierra Nevada foothills, east of Auburn along State Route 49. The community sits in forested foothill terrain at roughly 2,000 feet elevation, centered on a private lake. Nevada County's foothills include several private lake communities that developed as residential retreats for Sacramento and Bay Area residents. The community is primarily residential with the private lake serving as the central amenity. Residents use surrounding Nevada County communities, including Auburn to the south, for most commercial needs. The ponderosa pine and oak forest that gives the community its name covers the surrounding hillsides. State Route 49, the old gold country highway, connects the area to Grass Valley and Nevada City to the north and to Auburn to the south.
