Golf in Mather

Mather is a community in Sacramento County east of Sacramento, centered on the former Mather Air Force Base. The base closed in 1993 and was subsequently redeveloped as Mather Airport, a general aviation facility, along with an industrial park and residential development on portions of the former military land. Sacramento County's eastern communities along the US Highway 50 corridor have a mix of industrial, commercial, and residential uses. The Mather area includes Sacramento County Regional Park facilities and American River Parkway access on the southern edge of the community. The former air base land has been repurposed over several decades, with light industrial, housing, and open space uses now occupying the large former military campus. The community is within the Sacramento metropolitan area's eastern suburban zone.
