Golf in Novato

Novato is the largest city in Marin County by area, situated in the northern portion of the county along US Highway 101. The city occupies a broad valley that opens into the San Pablo Bay lowlands to the east, with oak-covered hills to the west and north. Marin County's northern cities, including Novato, have a more suburban character than the smaller towns in the county's central valley. The local economy includes retail, healthcare, light industrial, and commercial uses along the Highway 101 corridor, supplemented by a commuter population working in San Francisco and other Bay Area cities. Hamilton Field, a former military airfield in the eastern part of the city, has been redeveloped as a mixed residential and commercial area. Novato has several distinct neighborhoods spread across a larger geographic footprint than the southern Marin cities. The surrounding hills and Hamilton Wetlands provide open space on the city's eastern and northern edges.
