Golf in San Francisco

San Francisco is a city and county of 49 square miles at the tip of a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay. The city is the financial and cultural center of Northern California and one of the country's most densely populated urban areas. San Francisco's varied terrain includes steep hills in the center and north of the peninsula, flat reclaimed land along the eastern bay shore, and coastal dunes in the western neighborhoods. The climate is strongly influenced by the Pacific, with frequent fog along the ocean side and warmer, drier conditions in sheltered eastern neighborhoods. The city is home to several major parks including Golden Gate Park, a 1,017-acre urban park running from the city center to the Pacific shoreline. Golf is concentrated in the Presidio, Golden Gate Park corridor, the Olympic Club campus in the southwestern part of the city, and several additional sites. The Bay Area tech economy drives substantial growth in the surrounding region.
