Golf in Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz is a city on the north coast of Monterey Bay in Santa Cruz County, at the base of the Santa Cruz Mountains where they meet the Pacific. The city serves as the county seat and the main commercial and cultural hub for the county. UC Santa Cruz, a campus of the University of California, sits on the west side of the city on forested slopes above the bay. The local economy draws from the university, tourism, agriculture, and the tech sector, with Santa Cruz having become a residential base for Silicon Valley workers. The downtown has a concentration of independent businesses, restaurants, and the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk amusement park along the beach at the bay's edge. State Route 1 and State Route 17 are the main highway connections, with 17 crossing the Santa Cruz Mountains to San Jose. The city faces west toward the bay, giving it a moderate climate with frequent ocean influence.
