Golf in Somis

Somis is a small unincorporated community in Ventura County on the Oxnard Plain, northeast of Camarillo and west of Moorpark. The community occupies flat to gently varied terrain on the agricultural plain, where lemon, avocado, and strawberry farming are the dominant land uses. Ventura County's agricultural communities on the Oxnard Plain, including Somis, have maintained a rural character with limited residential and commercial development relative to the coastal urban centers. The community has very limited commercial services and is primarily residential and agricultural. State Route 34 passes through the area, connecting Somis to Camarillo to the west. The surrounding agricultural landscape is characteristic of the Ventura County interior plain, with irrigated orchards and field crops covering most of the flat terrain. The community is small and maintains a rural agricultural identity.
