Golf in South Lake Tahoe

South Lake Tahoe is a city in El Dorado County at the south end of Lake Tahoe, at roughly 6,200 feet elevation on the California-Nevada border. The city serves as the main commercial and lodging hub for the south shore of the lake, drawing visitors year-round for summer water recreation and winter snow sports. The Stateline area at the Nevada border, immediately adjacent to the California city limits, adds casino amenities that broaden the regional draw. US Highway 50 and State Route 89 are the main road connections, with Route 89 running north along the lake's western shore toward Tahoe City. The city works with Nevada agencies and the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency on environmental and land-use matters. The terrain of granite peaks and conifer forest rises steeply from the lake surface, which sits at 6,225 feet. Year-round residents are supplemented by large seasonal influxes during peak summer and winter periods.
