Valley Center is an unincorporated community in San Diego County in the inland mountain area north of Escondido, at roughly 1,600 feet elevation. The community occupies a broad mountain valley in the coastal ranges of northern San Diego County, where agriculture and residential uses share the valley floor. The Rincon and Pala Indian reservations are in or near the Valley Center area, and tribal gaming facilities operate in the region. Palomar Mountain rises to the east. Valley Center Road connects the community to Escondido to the south, providing access to Interstate 15 and the main San Diego metropolitan area.
