Golf in Valley Springs

Valley Springs is a small community in Calaveras County in the western foothills of the Sierra Nevada, northeast of Stockton. The community occupies the low-elevation portion of the county, where terrain transitions between the flat Central Valley floor and the more pronounced foothills to the east. Calaveras County's western edge communities sit in a zone of grassland and oak woodland at elevations below 1,000 feet, where the terrain is more subdued than the mountain communities further into the county. Valley Springs is primarily residential with limited commercial services, and residents typically travel to Stockton or San Andreas for most needs. New Hogan Lake, a reservoir on the Calaveras River, is nearby and provides recreation for the surrounding area. The community is accessible from State Route 12, which provides an east-west link between the San Joaquin Valley and the Calaveras County foothills.
