Golf in Big Spring

Big Spring is the county seat of Howard County in the eastern Permian Basin, a mid-size west Texas city that serves as a commercial and service center for the surrounding oil country. The community has Big Spring State Hospital as a significant employer and has ties to the cattle drives and the railroad era when it was a major watering stop on the Texas and Pacific Railway. The Comanche Trail Park with its natural amphitheater and the Big Spring State Park provide recreation for the community. Howard County sits at roughly 2,400 feet elevation in the flat to gently varied terrain at the Permian Basin edge, where the Colorado River drainage begins to cut into the high plains. Two courses serve the Big Spring community including Comanche Trail Golf Course in Comanche Trail Park.
